Peace Activist to Speak in DeLand|
Bruce Gagnon is the coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space. Formerly state coordinator of the Florida Coalition for Peace & Justice, Gagnon has spent his lifetime working for peace and justice and pressing for the conversion of our military-oriented economy to one that values human life and the environment. He will be in Florida on a speaking tour in November. The Stetson University OSAPE and the FCPJ are co-sponsoring a talk during his visit.
He will speak on the “Battle for America’s Soul.” Forty-five years ago, President Dwight Eisenhower spoke of “…the acquisition of unwarranted influence by the Military Industrial Complex…and the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power.”, This talk describes the evolution of that power and how space technology fits into the military's current plans for endless war. The speaker will provide a vision of a better, healthier future for the generations to follow
The event will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Caffe Da Vinci. It is free and open to the public.
